What does signup pending mean?
To prevent spammers from creating multiple accounts and causing trouble for everyone, we ask you to "activate" your free account on this site.
Don't worry--activation is easy. Here's how it works:
We send a message to the email address you entered during registration. This email contains a special activation link just for you.
To activate your account, all you need to do is click the activation link within 24 hours of registering.
If you don't receive the email with your activation link:
Check your Spam or Junk folder in case the email got routed there accidentally by your email provider. Or sign back into the Lycos Network to confirm the email address is correct or enter a different email address.
You can also click the "Resend my activation email" link to send the activation email again.
Please note:
If your account is not activated within 24 hours, you'll have to register again. So please be sure to click that activation link.
If you're purchasing a premium service, the premium account will be activated automatically--no other steps necessary!

How to signup.
1) In accordance with the COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act), you must be 13 years of age at the time of signup, to be eligible to be online.
2) You must have a working email address. Verification of your signup will be sent there.
3) You must have a computer, obviously.
If you are in compliance with all of the above, then you'd want to go to Angelfire's frontpage, and click the "Signup" link.
All of the steps to signup will be shown on the page, simply follow the instructions, and provide the asked for information.
Remember: provide your real information. Registering with false information may deter us from being able to provide support to you at a later time, if you're unable to verify your identity.

Choosing a Membername
You want to make sure to pick something that will represent your site's content well.
Some things to remember:
- Using your own name in your membername may not be the best idea, simply for privacy issues.
- You can only use letters and numbers. No spaces, or punctuation.
- All membernames should be in all lowercase.
- Profanity is not allowed.
- Do not use any Trademarked or Company Copyrighted name or information in your membername.

How many accounts can I have?
Signing up for more than one account will result in a Terms of Service violation, and may result in any/all of your accounts being closed, without warning to you.
While we understand that 20MB of storage is not a lot to build your site in, please know that we are continually working to improve features, and enhance our existing features.

Why does Angelfire need my e-mail address?
1) We need to make sure that the person signing up is a real person, and not an automated robot signing up, wasting the internet space.
2) In the event you should lose or forget your password, we have an automated system set up to send you an email, with your login information.
3) We use your email address to verify your identity, when you request help from Tech Support.

I logged in, but my site is gone.
Inactivity is defined as one or both of the following criteria:
1) Not logging into your account for 1 year's time.
2) Receiving less than 5 page views in any given month.
To make room for new members, Angelfire has to remove any content that is considered abandonded on our servers. If your site qualifies for the above two items, we consider your site to be abandonded, and may remove it, to make room for new members.
Unfortunately, if this is the case, we cannot restore the files. They are not backed up anywhere in our system.
If you are worried about losing your files, please be sure to read over the FAQ in our FTP section, to learn how you can back up your files, to your computer. This would allow you to simple re-upload them, in the event that they get removed.

Can I register a domain name with Angelfire?
Or by clicking "Upgrade My Membership" from your "My Account" page.
Plans start at $8.95 (domain name is included in your monthly hosting, and is free for the length of your Angelfire Premium Subscription*.) per month. (Set-up fees may apply)
Note: Canceling your subscription to Angelfire Premium Services will result in a forfeit of any associated domain name. Angelfire retains the rights to the domain name until you purchase the domain name from Angelfire.

Picking your own URL.
First, your Angelfire membername will be the end of your URL. Ie: if your membername is planet/supersite, your URL will be http://www.angelfire.com/planet/supersite.
We have also added the option recently (Summer 2007) for a membername without the slash. So instead of planet/supersite your membername could be just supersite. In that case, your URL would be http://supersite.angelfire.com/.
Note: These are just samples and are not actually working websites.
If you want to have a URL without Angelfire in it, you'd want to get a domain name. (Your own .com website address)
This can be done a few ways:
1) You can upgrade your Angelfire account to one of our Premium Packages (Argon, Xenon or Krypton), and receive a domain name for free.
2) You can visit our Domains Website, and purchase a domain name to use. (Domain names are $12.95 per year, and do not come with any hosting extras such as Ad free or extra diskspace included in the price).
3) You can purchase a domain name from any domain provider on the internet. However, please be sure that the provider you are purchasing from offers Domain Forwarding. Angelfire does not provide standard DNS for our accounts, due to the way our servers are set up.)

Are URLs case sensitive?
As of now, new registrations will only allow you to signup with all lowercase letters.
However, you should know that your directories, files, and images are case sensitive.
Index.html is not the same as index.html
Image.jpg is not the same as image.jpg
This is a common mistake when trying to code links or images on your pages. Please double check your case sensitivity when you're troubleshooting your pages.
