How do I put graphics or images on my page?
If you have uploaded the images you want to use to your Angelfire directory, you don't need to know anything more than the image name to put them on your page; for example, "picture.gif".
If you've loaded "picture.gif" into your top level Angelfire directory, when you use the Basic Editor, simply enter the image name "picture.gif" into the appropriate input box.
If you put the image in the images subdirectory, then enter "images/picture.gif" in the input box.
If you're using the Advanced Editor, enter the path of all image files into the source code, using your directory name:
<img src="/ny/mydir/yourpicture.gif">
Remember, the Advanced Editor is for those who are already familiar with HTML, so for those of you who find this confusing, using the Basic Editor will help you to overcome coding issues with HTML.

What are subdirectories?
A subdirectory is a folder, located within your site.
Generally, people use subdirectories to keep their site's content organized.
For example, generally all web images are stored in an "images" subdirectory.
You can create additional subdirectories (up to 3 levels deep), by using the "Create" section, located below the webshell.
Select the radio button for "Subdirectory", and enter in what you'd like to create (without the /), click "Create", and you're done.

How do I delete a file?
The Delete button in the Web Shell lets you delete files and subdirectories.
To delete a directory, you should make sure it has nothing in it you care about, including other subdirectories and files.
The Delete action cannot be undone -- any files you delete here cannot be recovered.
If you're deleting a directory, all subdirectories and files within that directory will also be deleted.
If you're sure you want to delete a file or subdirectory, select it from the file list and click Delete.
You will get a "Warning!" screen, and if you're sure you want to go ahead, click Delete. Otherwise, click Cancel.

Can I make copies of my files?
The Duplicate feature will allow you to make copies of files you already have in your account.
If you like the format of a page you created, and want to keep it for a new page, no need to cut and paste, just duplicate it!
The new file will be called "copy_of_filename" with "filename" being the original file's name.
You can then change the name and edit the new file-- and you are making it happen on the World Wide Web!

How should I organize my files?
However, how you organize your files is entirely up to you.

What is the code clipboard?
The Code Clipboard is an application that lets you cut and paste anything you want from other sites/ services (color codes, cgi, JavaScript...) for use on a page of your own.
The way it works: you open the Code Clipboard, go to a site that has some code (HTML, text, scripts...) you want on your site (Webmonkey for color codes, characters and tons of other stuff; our very own Script Library for CGI and JavaScripts... or wherever you want to go), and copy and paste the code you want into the Clipboard.
Continue looking for code or go back to the Web Shell.
When you're ready to insert your code, bring the Code Clipboard up and copy and paste.
A special feature of the Code Clipboard is that even if you have to log out (or your computer needs to be restarted...), if you click on the Code Clipboard, the code you copied will still be there!
Until you hit the clear link on the Clipboard, whatever you copied and pasted will stay there.
If you do your editing with an outside program, you can still use the Code Clipboard.
Log in to the Web Shell, turn the Code Clipboard on and you're ready to cut and paste.
Why wouldn't you just cut and paste? You could, but the Code Clipboard lets you copy many different pieces of info, not just one.

What is the transloader?
The Transloader is a nifty little tool that lets you copy content from anywhere else in the Web directly into your Angelfire member directory.
Use the Transloader to quickly assemble files, images, or MP3s from anywhere on the Web for use on your Angelfire site.
To load a file from somewhere else on the Web using the Transloader, you select the file by typing the file's URL into the "File URL" input box.
Then click the "Move it!" button. The file will be saved in your Angelfire directory using the file name listed in the URL.
For example, if you chose to save a file located at http://images.sonique.com/banners/mini-scroll1.gif, the file would be saved into your member directory as "mini-scroll1.gif".
You can change the name of the file when it's saved by specifying your own filename in the "File name" field.
You could save "mini-scroll1.gif" as "sonique.gif" in your directory by typing the new name into the "File Name" field before clicking the "Move It!" button.
You will need to check the "Overwrite" box if you want to overwrite a file that has the same filename as the one you are transloading.
Helpful Hints:
You can upload more than one file at a time with the Transloader.
Just click on the "Upload multiple files" link underneath the tool's "Upload" button.
Be sure to get permission before using any copyrighted images!
There are also many image libraries available on the Web that can be used freely without permission.
