How do I set up a root directory in Dreamweaver MX?
Step 2) Click on Site, in the top navigation bar, and select the option for Manage Sites.

Step 3) Click on New to add a root directory/website to your Dreamweaver Software.

Step 4) From the menu that drops down when clicking New, select Site.

Step 5) Select a name for your website. This name will not effect the way your site operates within your Angelfire/Tripod website. This is solely so that you can tell which site is which, on your computer. If editing multiple sites.

Step 6) On this step, select "No, I do not want to use a server technology."

Step 7) Select "Edit local copies on my machine, then upload to server when ready". Which means you will be editing the files on your computer, then placing them within your hosting account. Select a location to put the files you'll be editing, and put it in the location designated.

Step 8 Under "How do you connect to your remote server?", from the drop down menu, select FTP.

Step 9 Fill in the information requested by the program
For Tripod: Hostname or FTP address is: ftp.tripod.com
"What folder on the server do you want to store your files in?": leave this blank for your root directory.
Username: Your Tripod membername
Password: Your Tripod password

For Angelfire: Hostname or FTP address is: ftp.angelfire.com
"What folder on the server do you want to store your files in?": leave this blank for your root directory.
Username: Your Angelfire membername, including the directory. ie; directory/membername
Password: Your Angelfire password.

Step 10) Select "No, I do not want to enable check in, or check out".

Step 11) Click Done.

How do I upload files using Dreamweaver?
Step 2) Edit, and save the page you wish to change on your site.
Step 3) Once the page is edited and saved, locate it's filename within your local view, on the left of your screen.

Step 4) Right click on the file name, and select Put. This will upload your HTML file. Be sure to follow the process for all of your images as well. Without putting your images on the server, they will not display on your pages.
