Tripod Domain Name Email Service is currently experiencing problems as a result of an early morning scheduled maintenance that has since created an outage.

Our Engineers and Operation staff are working to resolve this issue for our members and we hope to have it resolved as soon as possible!

Howdy, Tripod Members.

Tripod and Lycos are NOT shutting down. Your free/paid sites are fine. It's Lycos UK/Tripod UK that have announced their shutdown. The UK company licensed the Lycos/Tripod name and some technology years ago, but has NOTHING to do with the original/core Lycos/Tripod that we run here in snowy Waltham, MA, USA.

(Yeah, I know it sounds a bit strange...just think of it like those step-cousins who share the same last name, but that you never talk to, and have no idea what they're up to.)

So, again, Tripod and Lycos aren't going anywhere. In fact, the team and I are working hard to get out some exciting new features and upgrades. We're in Alpha testing now, and should have something for you to see in late Feb./early March. Ditto for Lycos Domains, and the domains you may have bought through Tripod or Angelfire. All's fine there, new stuff coming soon. 

If you happen to have a site on Tripod UK that's getting shutdown, feel free to FTP-down your contents from that site, save them to your desktop, and then upload them to your Tripod.com site here. While we don't necessarily support all of the same technologies as the UK version currently, just sit tight.

Some members are reporting Connectivity Issues while editing their website in SiteBuilder.  Our engineers are actively working on a resolution to this problem.  We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

A public service announcement: Please be sure to check your debit cards

Lycos has received reports that bank-issued VISA debit card numbers may have been compromised at a currently unknown merchant, prompting banks to close those debit card accounts.

This situation has nothing to do with Tripod, Angelfire, Lycos Domains, Lycos Mail, HTML Gear, or Lycos!

We are simply suggesting that you please do the following as good practice to protect yourself:

(1) Check your bank statements periodically for potential fraudulent activity;

(2) Check to make sure your Lycos account has not been closed unexpectedly; and

(3) If the Visa debit card you are using to pay for Tripod, Angelfire, HTML Gear, Lycos Domains, or Lycos Mail service has been unexpectedly closed, update your billing information with a new card number so that you do not lose your premium service.
